Does it bother anyone else that we have been training our AI instead of trying to make it as smart as possible?

I am not saying that it is a bad thing. I can already see the benefits in medicine, friendship, and so much more. It just bugs me that the majority of AIs are trained to do a specific thing like “answer history questions” or “do stuff instead of you” and it sucks that we stopped trying to make AIs as smart as possible and just made them good at one specific thing.
