This is 100% a throwaway question to help satisfy my curiosity. I'm already on the clock, but I can pretend I'm not if I need to.

I need to know if this is THE subreddit for teachers or teachers on Reddit. If it's THE subreddit, then that's awesome. I'd like to be part of the community. If it's teachers on Reddit, then I'll probably lurk for a while and then leave.

I teach high school band. I've been doing it for 11 years and have been slowly learning how to teach without burning myself out. I don't know what my specific hope is with joining the group. It's partially selfish, knowing that I can easily see that I'm not alone in this shit that we're in right now. But I'm also happy to help other teachers if I can.

Oh, and for reference, I'm in the Atlanta area. I was raised and went to school in Southern Illinois. I'm a lifelong educator and a lifelong musician. If you think that you know me, I probably work with you. Or you are a former student. Either way, this is a throwaway account, so I don't need to worry about anyone knowing that I talk too much.

Happy teachers, happy classroom. That's my motto. Welcome to my classroom. You're now happy.

Edit: Wow, y'all...this is amazing. Welcome to everyone who joined. I hope that you found some good reading on the page. I think that I'm probably going to start to lurk and to try to find some threads that I'm qualified to comment on. I'll eventually get around to posting some questions, but for now, I'm just happy to read through and reminisce about my time in the classroom. I think that this will be good for me. Peace and love.
