I 43m, have 2 children girl(14) and boy(11).

My wife 42f, has 2 children girl(23) and boy(20), and step-child girl(25).

My step-daughter graduated her BBA program 3 years ago, she’s engaged to her boyfriend for 2 years, and got married on 20th of June.

Here are the basics:

- Her parents (my wife’s family) paid for almost everything (venue, food, decoration, photographer, venue coordinator, venue dress, ceremony dress, wedding bouquet etc.),
- I paid for everything that was below the national average(500$ for flower arrangement, 650$ for wedding cake, 520$ for wedding attire etc.),
- Her boyfriend’s parents paid for nothing, his friends paid only for booze, and my step-daughter’s friends paid only for entertainment.
- The house was held in our house for 1 month, and my wife’s family also brought their dog with them.

Because of the stress that all of these caused, and because my step-daughter and her boyfriend spend maybe 10 hours with guests, I made a stupid mistake, and argued with my wife about how all the money that was spent was wasted, and that my step daughter spend too much time in her room arranging her dress and heels etc. and didn’t even spend time with whole family. (My wife and I mostly live apart, because I don’t want to argue with my wife every single day.)

My wife and I argued for 2 hours, after that my wife went to her family’s house and came back with 2 big bags. When she asked if I changed my mind after seeing the bags, I said “Yes, I changed my mind, take your stuff and get the fuck out.”

So, the next morning my wife’s family and TLDR came and started arguing with my neighbours, and accused me of stealing my stepdaughter’s stuff, and stealing all the money that was spent, and not allowing my step daughter to take the stuff back. After a big argument, the police came and stopped them.

After the police stopped them, they started arguing with the police too, and my wife said that I stole her property and I didn’t allow her to take her property back, and that I’m a thief.

So, they went to the landlord( my neighbour), and the landlord said that I stole my stepdaughter’s property, and didn’t allow her to take her stuff back, so the landlord changed my lock, and took my wife and her family to my flat.

After seeing the police, landlord, and my own neighbours arguing with me, my neighbourhood has completely shocked me, so I left the flat through the windows, and went to my cousin’s house. When I came through the windows, everyone thought that I stole my stepdaughter’s stuff, and that I’m a thief.

So am I the asshole for taking back my stuff? I mean, I have the receipts, I paid for the stuff, it’s my property.
