Can we "see truth" " in the mind's eye " ?

I personally believe that we can do just that, when we are contemplating and taking our time to think deeply about a topic. I have a feeling that you can see the truth of things in your minds eye or in your intuitive mind, but you have to do it carefully and slowly and accurately, like someone is describing something to you, and you can sort of build up this picture of truth of things, but you can't see the whole thing, only partially in your minds eye. Does that make sense, and do you have a similar experience when you think deeply about things ?
