I worked in a call center taking orders for about 7 years. Our company was contract by many other larger companies to field calls and take orders for their products. I was in charge of entering orders into our system for customers. Most orders consisted of 3-4 items or less, and if you are a good typist you could enter the orders without even looking at the computer screen. I was surprised to see my company did not ever audit or check orders. They relied on the customer to report discrepancies.

One day I decided to test this out and removed an item from an order and pocketed the profit from the item I took. Nothing happened. I was more reckless at first, sometimes removing multiple items from orders. Then I got smarter. I created a separate fake email address for the orders I modified, and then I sent those customer's their confirmation email myself with the correct order. So if they ever got their order and complained the company would see the customer had received their confirmation email with the correct order. This took place over 2 years, until I left the company and I never received any punishment or call from my company.

Edit: I did this at a call center. This was my job, entering orders our customer service people took. My job was to enter orders which included the items and cost, into our system.

Edit #2: I did not hacketh anything. I did not have access to customer's computers, nor did I have the desire to do this. Also I did not take $30,000 in cash, but the items I removed is valued at over $30,000.

Edit #3: I-rue-u. I really don't understand why people are so mad that I did this. I did this at my old job, which I no longer am at. I am not a "thief," I simply played a trick on my old company.
