I would say the most underappreciated aspect of (((Hollywood))) is that they gave us the myth of the "anti-hero", and with which to shit on heroism.

The general archetype of the modern anti-hero seems to be a shallow, narcissistic, selfish, and generally unaccountable prick that seems to do whatever they want, whenever they want, and the most important part is that they don't give a fuck. They just do whatever it is that they did. (And it always seems to work out for them in the end).

The modern day "hero" is a dandified, charming, selfish, and reckless asshole that is deluded enough to think that they are better than everyone else.

This is the end of the "hero" that protected the tribe, this is not the end of heroism.

This is the end of the "hero" in the modern sense, this is not the end of heroism.
