AITA for not wanting my parents to visit me in my new flat because I don’t think it’s ready for them?

I (M24) have just moved into a new flat in the city I got a job in. I’ve had this job for about 6 months now and have been living in a different city to my parents. My parents are still in my hometown so I would never see them in person but we FaceTime once in a while and I send them a small update each time about my life. They want me to move back to the hometown but I like where I am and I’m happy.<br><br>The thing is, I’m not a great housekeeper. I’ve been in my new flat for a couple of weeks now and I haven’t had any visitors. I want my parents to be proud of me so I’ve been working really hard to clean the place up. My kitchen has all the basic stuff in it, the living room is just a sofa and a tv but the bathroom is a mess. I’ve been scrubbing the bathroom every day for about a week and a half now but it still isn’t clean enough for my standards.<br><br>My parents have been asking about the place and I told them I haven’t had any visitors yet but I’m really busy and can’t focus on a lot of things at once. I told them I’ll let them know when I can show it to them. I’d feel really bad if they came to visit me and saw how messy the place was. I don’t want them to be disappointed in me so I told them I don’t want them to come over until I know the place is clean enough for them to see. I don’t want them to see how bad it really is and feel bad about me. I don’t want to be embarrassed. I’ve been working so hard to clean it but I think it’ll never be clean enough.<br><br>My parents said they’re hurt by my response. They told me that they want to see me and that I’m making it seem like I don’t want to see them. They told me that they want to see my home and that I shouldn’t be embarrassed about my home. They told me that they would be proud of me and that they’d want to see the place for themselves. They’re upset and I can tell they think I’m being weird. AITA?
