My nephew told me that he has spent 80k buying his MLB dream job

I have a nephew that has a dream to become an umpire for baseball. It's a dumb dream imo but he's serious about it. He goes to umpire school every year and spent years working his way up from little league to college to now he gets to umpire semi pro games. He's spent like 80k so far and it felt like a lot but it was his dream. He's 27 now. I just talked to him and he said an MLB scout watched him umpire a game and recruited him. It's a little crazy to me that he was able to do it but my sister spent all her savings plus took out loans on her house for him to go to umpire school. And he did it. I don't have any kids so this is kind of like my only experience having a kid do something cool. He was so excited to share it with me. He's a great kid. And he was right, all those haters were wrong.
