A little boy left me a cute note, or so I thought.

My mom is a teacher, and this happened to her in a school she used to work at.

She usually leaves her purse in one of the cupboards in her classroom, and one day while she was putting away her things, she noticed a piece of paper inside her purse. It was a note saying something like “I love you, [mom’s name], [crush’s name]”.

She was a little amused and a little grossed out that one of her students liked her, and she went on with her day, trying to figure out who it was that had left the note. After a while, she was sure she knew who it was.

There was one boy in her class, about 9 years old, who was super quiet and didn’t say much to the other kids. She figured it was probably him, and that she’d just throw away the note and forget about it.

But then she noticed something. The handwriting wasn’t the same as the boy’s, and she couldn’t think of anyone else in her class who would have left it. Still, it didn’t really bother her, since she was sure it was one of her students, and kids do weird things sometimes.

Then she noticed that whoever had left the note had written her last name wrong by one letter. Instead of ending in a W, it ended in an M. She was a little confused, but figured the kid had just misspelled it on accident, and that he would probably say something about it in class that day.

It was getting close to the time her next class was about to start, so she was running through her lesson plans one last time, when she noticed another piece of paper. This one was on her desk. It was the exact same note as the one in her purse.

She immediately went looking for the principal, to ask if she could look at the security footage and see if anyone had been in her classroom while she was gone.

When they looked at the footage, they saw a grown man walking into her classroom, going over to her desk, leaving the note, then going into the cupboard where her purse was and putting another note in there.

She didn’t recognize the man, and neither did anyone else at the school, so they decided to let it go, figuring it was probably just a prank and the guy had just picked a random name.

The next day while she was teaching, she happened to glance at the clock hanging above the door, and saw that it said “I love you [mom’s name]” in the same handwriting as the note, and the last name was spelled the same way, with the wrong letter at the end.

She pulled the principal out of his office and showed him the writing on the clock, and the two of them decided he was probably in the school somewhere.

They obviously didn’t want to scare the kids, so they told the students there was going to be an impromptu fire drill, and they were all going to go outside for a couple minutes.

While everyone was out of the school, they searched every classroom to see if they could find the guy who had left the notes. This is the part that creeped my mom out the most;

He was in her classroom. He had pulled the curtains around her desk, and was hiding in there. The cops came and arrested him, and they figured out he was one of the school’s custodians.

Obviously he was fired and got in a lot of trouble, but my mom has been paranoid about weirdos ever since. And that, whoever he was, is who my mom will never forget, because he’s the guy who obviously had some obsession with her, and she has no idea how long he was into her, or how he even found out where she worked.
