Why do doctors insist on looking in my nose?

I’ve been sick, and have been going to the doctor for a couple weeks. Every time they see me they do a COVID test and look up my nose, and swipe the inside of my nostril. I’m 32m and have never smoked. I’ve had a cold I think, lots of sneezing and runny nose, but no loss of taste or smell. I just got my test back and I’m negative. Why do doctors always look up my nose? I’ve never seen them do that in any tv show or movie.
