I hate the concept of the “friend zone”

The friend zone is where a guy that’s really nice to a girl and genuinely cares about her gets squeezed to death. A girl will value you as a friend, but not as a romantic partner. I find it to be really disrespectful. The term “friend zone” implies that the guy is just a friend to her, a completely platonic relationship. That’s not the case. There is a power dynamic at play. Girls easily get upset about how guys don’t understand how they feel, but don’t we deserve to feel upset when it comes to the friend zone? We are told to be nice and supportive, and yet we are rejected. Honestly I think it’s cruel.
