GHB a lot more dangerous than I realised

I went to a party and one of my friends took me aside and offered me a tiny cup of something. He told me it was GHB and he was on it and said I should try it. I had never taken GHB, but I had tried it at a festival before and enjoyed it, so I drank it. He called it G back then.

He told me a lot of lies about G, he said it wears off in about 2 hours, then you get some hangover for an hour and then you should be good. He also said there's no comedown or hangover. I then assumed it must be a stimulant of some kind, maybe like a xtc pill.

Well, I woke up 8 hours later, in my bed, not sure how I got there, I think my friend drove me home and put me in bed.

I felt like absolute dog shit. I was throwing up, my mouth and throat hurt a lot, I was dizzy, I had a massive headache and my whole body felt weak. I was so dehydrated I could feel my organs and my whole body felt so dry and weak.

I kept falling asleep, but waking up nauseous and unable to move. I could barely walk to the bathroom.

I get out of bed a day later and I'm so groggy and dizzy, I feel like shit and it takes me a week to recover from the hangover and feel somewhat normal.

I then read online that mixing GHB and alcohol is dangerous and doesn't mix well. I read that you should absolutely not mix the two, they essentially say it should not be mixed with any other drugs, including alcohol and that the danger lies in the fact that you can't feel the effects of GHB. So when you're on G, you won't feel drank and if you drink anything else, you won't feel the drunk effects and can get into a situation where you're blackout drunk or can black out and not even remember.

I then read about the dangers of GHB, how a lot of people die of GHB, a lot of people get put into the ICU, a lot of people die in their sleep. I read an article about how a woman mixed GHB with alcohol and went home and went to bed and didn't wake up. Her husband woke up in the morning and found her dead. She had basically choked on her own puke and suffocated and died.

That's when I found out GHB is essentially a date rape drug and has been used many times. Mixing it with alcohol is basically playing with fire, because it suppresses your gag reflex.

I then started reading about GHB blacking people out and realised I must have blacked out. I don't remember anything after drinking it. I read about people waking up in strange places with no idea how they got there and not remembering anything.

I was incredibly lucky I made it home safe and alive, and that my friend was so kind as to put me in bed.

I read about people mixing G with xanax, coke, weed, pills, ketamine etc. I read about people having a lot of fun on G and people having horrific experiences.

I'm not sure how much of what I read online is true, but I've never had an experience like that before and I absolutely never want to feel like that again. I'm a heavy drinker and heavy smoker, but I have never felt that bad before.

I then started looking into the drug itself and realised GHB is actually a central nervous system depressant, essentially a downer and not an upper. It's essentially a sedative drug.

It's a precursor to GABA, which is a neurotransmitter and natural downer. The effects of GHB are more or less identical to alcohol, but with no loss of motor control or coordination.

Like alcohol, GHB essentially affects all your neurotransmitters. It's sort of like a stimulant, but not really, it can give you energy and make you hyper, but at the same time it can make you drowsy and knock you out. I guess it's similar to Xanax in that regard? It can sort of go either way, depending on the person and depending on the dosage.

I read that taking GHB can be a wild ride and that you can black out at any moment and wake up the next day and not remember anything. That it's a drug you should be careful with and not a drug you should take lightly.

But I never knew it was that dangerous. I read about people ODing on G and basically being in a coma for days. I read about people mixing G with coke and pills and ending up in the ICU. I read about people drinking and taking G and dying.

I had no idea it was so dangerous and I was honestly very naive about that drug. I should have done more research before taking it.

It's honestly not even a fun drug, it's not worth it at all, it didn't even feel good, I just felt like a zombie and I didn't know what was going on. I had 0 control over my body and 0 awareness of my surroundings and I didn't know how I got home or what happened.

I don't think I'll ever touch that drug again. Unless I do more research and someone tells me it's safe.

Has anyone ever tried G? What was your experience like?

One of my friends used to take it all the time, but she said she never drank on it and only mixed it with weed. She said it was a lot of fun and she felt like a child on it.
