Should I be in a history class?

I teach 7th grade inclusion science, and one of our classes is 7th grade inclusion history. I have a 504 kiddo who is marked in our schedule, so our school has me working with him in the history class, not science.

We are %100 aligned in our classroom setup, and both have extremely similar classroom procedures. I, however, have no knowledge of history as a subject, and am really struggling to keep up with the content. While the teacher is giving instruction, I am working with my student to take notes, but some days it feels like I don't have any idea what I am doing. I am having trouble helping him with some of the assignments, and I just feel like I am messing it all up.

How do you work with students in a subject area where you are not trained? I am a science teacher, but this school is so overcrowded that I haven't had a science class all year.
