CMV: YouTube needs to allow users to turn off comments by default

I never used to give YouTube comments much thought outside of the fact that they're generally terrible and shouldn't be looked at. My view was that you could just click the hide button and ignore it or click show and allow yourself to look into the void. I never really cared much about comments on videos, even more so because I don't often watch anything on YouTube that really requires any form of discussion. Recently I downloaded the YouTube app to my TV because it's the best way to get YouTube on my TV for now. The main problem is that when you get to the end of the video and there's a recommendation the comments are front and center, super distracting and annoying.

Now what I'm saying is that the comments shouldn't be removed all together, that's actually just a bad idea, but I do think there should be an option to completely disable comments across the board and the only way to see them is to go into your settings and allow them. I have already put this into action by using a browser extension but I think this should be a feature for everyone, you shouldn't have to go out of your way for something to basic like that.
