Chambers

I see a lot of posts about "the President" and "the administration" doing things for or against the USA and her people. Have we forgotten that we live in a republic?

Or are you truly ignorant?

For those that think President and President and the administration are a single entity, or for those that don't know why that is wrong, let me explain.

The President is a figure head for the administration. They are responsible for appointing the heads of the executive agencies. But they are not a dictator.

The President is further separated from lawmaking in that the laws of the USA are decided by Congress (the Senate and the house of representatives).

The President is supposed to enforce the laws of the USA for the people and the states. But has the ability to veto a law (thus not enforcing a law that is deemed unbecoming and against the betterment of the nation). If the President does decide to veto a law, it is Congress that decides if a law is enforced anyway (override the President's veto).

But why am I ranting like a mad man? I am tired of hearing that the administration does this or that, so "the President" is the one doing bad things. It is the agencies that do the work of the government. Without them, there would be no government. It is the officers of Congress and the Senate that decide the laws of the land. If you have an issue with something, you should be asking your state Senators and Representatives to change a law first. Then you should write to the agency and ask them to change the laws they enforce (although if they are enforcing laws passed by Congress, they have no choice but to enforce them).

So, if you are going to bad mouth a President, then please, blame the President and the administration. Do not blame Congress for the President's actions and do not blame the President for the laws that Congress has written. We are not a democracy. If you believe the "majority rules, screw the minority" mentality, then you are in the wrong nation.

This is a republic and our constitution protects the minority from the majority. If you blame the President for things that Congress has done, you are not doing anything to help this country. If you blame Congress for things the President has done but Congress has allowed, you are not doing anything to help this country.

Grow up and learn how your nation works.
