I know the internet is becoming a huge part of our lives but what if it stops working forever?

The internet is a huge part of most people’s lives. But what if something like a huge solar flare hits the world and knocks out the internet for good. I can’t imagine it ever happening but at the same time I can’t imagine how it would work.
