This show is what happens when you ask yourself “what if this zombie apocalypse went badly?” Attack on Titan is one of those shows that is a perfectly told story in the same way that you could say the movie Parasite is a perfectly told story. Nothing in the show is necessary, everything works together to create a greater story. I don’t know if Attack on Titan is as strong as a film like Parasite, but I think it is certainly perfectly told.

The story in Attack on Titan is not a particularly creative or original one. I’d first heard of Attack on Titan because someone told me it was “like The Walking Dead but with larger zombies in a larger world”. That’s perfectly accurate, except Attack on Titan also has a twist of the characters all turning into larger zombies. However, it is the manner in which this story is told that makes Attack on Titan so strong.

Attack on Titan is the story of a perfect loss of innocence. The perfectly told story in Attack on Titan relates to the manner in which the story is able to create a strong sense of loss of innocence with the characters and the world around them. Attack on Titan is a show that perfectly conveys the horrors of war in a way that I do not have a lot of foundational knowledge on. I think of Attack on Titan like the TV show “Chernobyl” in that it is able to convey a perfectly told story of what really happened. I am perfectly aware that Attack on Titan is not a real story in that it is zombies, but the depth and weight of the story told relates to what happened in real life. In the same way that you can look back on history and imagine how different it would be if, for instance, World War II had not happened, Attack on Titan is a show that makes you imagine what the world would be like without these monsters. It is easy to imagine what the world would be like if there were no Titans (monsters) because Attack on Titan is so well written. It is also easy to imagine how terrifying it would be to live in a world with these monsters because Attack on Titan is so well written.

In my opinion, Attack on Titan is a perfectly told story because of the world building and the character development. Attack on Titan is the story of a world where humanity is pushed to the literal brink of extinction. The world they live in is a joke (especially this one village where they live in an old castle with enormous walls), however the fact that these walls keep them safe makes it work. So much of this world perfectly works together to make Attack on Titan such a strong show. I think the global totalitarian government in Attack on Titan is particularly well written. There is only one ruler. There is no one who can control this ruler. The ruler is not even aware of the real intentions of the people who put them in power.

Attack on Titan also has a strong cast of characters. As we follow these characters, we see their motivations and personalities develop and change as the story progresses. The cast in Attack on Titan is strong enough that I was able to remember the names of many of the main characters. I do not have the best memory for characters names, and this is the case for both anime and live action shows, but I was able to remember many of the names in Attack on Titan. It’s not just their names that are memorable, but the characters themselves are also imaginable. As we develop a connection to the characters, and Attack on Titan is particularly strong in this department, we are able to imagine them and the world in a way that is not common for most shows. Attack on Titan is a show where I remember Levi being quite strong and able to create some semblance of order, I remember Armin and Reiner because of their unique powers, and I remember Mikasa, Eren, and Sasha because of their depth of character and their importance to the story.

Another perfectly told aspect of Attack on Titan relates to the powers and the larger monsters. I think the powers of the humans in Attack on Titan are perhaps the most creative idea of the show. The powers are unique to different humans, they all have limitations, and each of the characters with powers have different powers. This idea is so well created that we are able to perfectly imagine what these powers do and how they function. The larger monsters do not have perfectly told powers in Attack on Titan, but they are a foundational aspect of the show. The large monsters are the reason why the characters’ powers exist, and they are the reason why the world has fallen into chaos. The idea behind the larger monsters in Attack on Titan is not creative or unique, but the idea is so well created that we are able to perfectly imagine what these monsters do and how they function.

Attack on Titan is a show that is able to perfectly convey the horrors of war. The larger monsters in Attack on Titan are perhaps the most creative idea of the show because of their presence and power. The idea behind these larger monsters, the Titans as they’re called, is not unique or creative. The Titans are just zombie monsters where the only way to kill them is to behead them. There is no reason behind their creation, except for the reason that is revealed in the last third of the show (it relates to a religion that worships a global totalitarian government and they see themselves as superhumans). Attack on Titan does not need a creative idea behind the monsters because the idea is so well created. We are able to imagine what these monsters do and how they function because the idea is so well created.

Attack on Titan is a show that is able to perfectly convey the horrors of war. I was often reminded of the show “Chernobyl” as I watched Attack on Titan. Attack on Titan is the story of what happens when a disaster like the Chernobyl meltdown happens, expect this disaster is ongoing. Attack on Titan is able to perfectly convey the horrors of loss of innocence that happens because of war.
