is it just me or are the people saying psilocybin “cured” their depression unhelpful in the process of psychadelic legalization?

i don’t believe clinical psilocybin can ever be used as a widespread treatment for depression, and i believe the people saying it cures depression are actually making it harder in the long run to legalize it, because they’re raising unrealistic expectations. in fact, i’d wager they’re actively making it harder to get research done by taking the clinical aspect of psychedelic use and turning it into some sort of diy folk remedy.<br><br>edit: i thought id add, the way some people talk about psychedelics is the same way people used to talk about bloodletting when it was first becoming popular to use leeches to cure anything and everything. i don’t understand why anyone would assume we don’t need to be careful here. psilocybin is certainly nowhere near as unstudied as those things were, but if you don’t think we can ever misuse psychedelics, i have some leeches to sell you.
