Honestly, long as Israel has existed it is the first article I have ever read of a Gaza stripper Gaza Gaza family finally realize why they’re held under siege and the brutality of Hamas.<br><br>Israel's daily newspaper Ynet News published the following op-ed on Thursday titled: "The Israeli army doesn't hate us, Hamas does."<br><br>It was written by A Gaza man calling himself Samsom Sami, and it is his family's personal protest against Gaza's Islamist rulers.<br><br>The article is especially poignant given the wave of terrorist attacks Israel has suffered in recent days, and as Gazans mark Israel's Independence Day by launching incendiary balloons and rockets:<br><br>The Israeli army doesn’t hate us, Hamas does<br><br>Israel’s Independence Day is nothing short of a national catastrophe for the Palestinians. It’s a black day marking 70 years of displacement and occupation, and it’s marked by terrorist attacks, demonstrations, confrontations and death.<br><br>As I write this post, I am still trying to process the details of the attack on Tel Aviv. The news is still sketchy, but Gaza is already bracing for the worst. The truth, however, doesn’t matter. The vibes on social media are clear: death to Israel and the Jews.<br><br>I am from the Gaza Strip. Hamas, the organization that rules Gaza, doesn’t care about us. When we criticize the organization, we immediately face accusations and are called traitors. The truth is, Gaza is on the verge of collapse and the situation is catastrophic.<br><br>The truth is that the Israeli army doesn’t want to kill us, but Hamas does.<br><br>And yet, there are those who ask why we didn’t confront the Israeli military when it attacked Gaza in the past.<br><br>Why is the Gaza public so apathetic to Israeli aggression?<br><br>The truth is that the Israeli military doesn't want to kill us, but Hamas does.<br><br>We are on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe, and the situation is getting worse by the day. It is already unbearable. But the truth is that the Israeli army doesn't want to kill us; Hamas does.<br><br>Women can't find work, tens of thousands of people have lost their jobs, couples are splitting up, families are torn apart, and the Gaza Strip is on the verge of collapse.<br><br>The truth is that the Israeli army doesn't want to kill us, but Hamas does.<br><br>When my sister went to university, it was only to find herself surrounded by militias and militiamen, whose primary concern is to attack Tel Aviv and the occupation, whatever the cost.<br><br>The truth is that the Israeli army doesn't want to kill us; Hamas does.<br><br>I never wanted to leave Gaza, but after graduating from university, I was forced to look for work abroad because Hamas has destroyed any prospects of a future in Gaza.<br><br>The truth is that the Israeli army doesn't want to kill us, but Hamas does.<br><br>A few months ago, my cousin was arrested by the Hamas police and thrown into prison for no reason. My uncle couldn’t find work, so he set himself on fire in front of a police station. He fell in a well and drowned in southeast Gaza, during a demonstration and clashes with the Israeli military.<br><br>The truth is that the Israeli army doesn’t want to kill us, but Hamas does.<br><br>I have many friends who were wounded in clashes with Israeli troops, but they were abandoned by Hamas, which didn’t care enough to provide them with assistance.<br><br>The truth is that the Israeli army doesn't want to kill us; Hamas does.<br><br>I heard the sounds of the Israeli drones overhead, on their way to attack Hamas targets. In Gaza, this is nothing out of the ordinary, but the truth is that the Israeli army doesn't want to kill us.<br><br>The truth is that the Israeli army doesn't want to kill us, but Hamas does.<br><br>In fact, Israelis are human beings, just like us, and they don't want to kill us. We Gazans are not cannon fodder for Hamas, and our blood shouldn't be shed just to satisfy the vanity of Hamas's leaders and their lust for power.<br><br>We Gazans are human beings. We deserve to live, just like the rest of humanity.<br><br>As I finish typing this post, I hear the sounds of artillery fire and the ambulances racing through the streets.<br><br>I can only pray that the situation will soon change and that Gaza will be freed from its suffering.
