Hello everyone,

I am married to a Lithuanian citizen, who is originally from Lithuania, but has been living abroad for over 10 years. After getting married, we moved to Lithuania and have been living there for 3 years now. During this time, we had our son. I am a foreign citizen, and the Lithuanian authorities claim that as a married mixed couple, I, the foreign national, have no right to live in Lithuania. They claim that the only option for me to reside in Lithuania is to obtain a residence permit through a national visa. I have already submitted my application, but the decision is still pending.

I am concerned that until I receive the residence permit, I am free to travel abroad, but I am prohibited from returning to Lithuania as I don’t have the residence permit, which would allow me to cross the border.

I have been advised that I should not travel abroad for the time being, as I will not be allowed to return to Lithuania. In the meantime, I have been told that I am being tolerated in Lithuania under the amendment to the law that is pending in the Lithuanian Parliament. However, I am not sure how long this "tolerance" will last, and I do have urgent matters to attend to abroad.

I am also worried about how my family situation will affect my immigration status. My Lithuanian wife is currently abroad, and we have a son together. My wife is planning to return to Lithuania, but I am uncertain about my own status in the country.

I hope someone can offer advice on what I should do in this situation. I appreciate your help in resolving this matter.
