My girlfriend and I were almost kidnapped at a rest stop

Last night around 10:30 my girlfriend and I are driving back to her house. We live in New Mexico and she was about 45 minutes away from me in the city. We live near the Rio Grande so it's very desert like and not a whole lot of tall objects obstructing the view. We pull into a small rest stop right off the interstate to take a leak. It had just rained so the dirt was all muddy and wet. We pull into the first parking spot and begin to take a piss. Right next to the parking lot there's a small cliff that leads to a small valley. It was about 10-15 feet down. It was a bit of a drop and there was no stairs or anything to get down. I take a leak and get back into the car, turn the car around and begin to pull out. Right as I pull away from the parking spot I notice a man in all black, face mask and backpack running full speed down the cliff towards the car. I immediately see him coming at full speed and begin to pull away from him. He runs into the side of the car as we are pulling away. If I have not turned around and left we would have been face to face with him. I pull away from the rest stop and look in my rear view, I see him walking back up the cliff at a normal pace. Nothing seemed off about him, he seemed completely normal acting like nothing was wrong. We drive away and begin to talk about what just happened. I asked my girlfriend if she saw him, and she did not. I tell her that a man just ran full speed into our car, she did not believe me at first. Now we are paranoid so we begin to check our surroundings. I look at the mileage on the car to see how far we are from the nearest exit. We finally get off the interstate and stop at a gas station to get some food. While we're at the gas station we tell the lady what happened. She says there has been a lot of kidnapping and human trafficking in that area. It is not uncommon apparently. Now I'm really paranoid. I tell my girlfriend we're not going back the same way. We take another route. I see a lot of suspicious activity such as people running into the ditches, people walking down the road, random cars pulled over. I'm on high alert right now and my girlfriend is very scared. We finally make it back to her town and I'm still on high alert. We get back to her house safely and we finally begin to settle down. We talked about what happened for a long time. We were discussing the possibility of him being a kidnapper. I was saying how he was probably hiding in the valley and waiting for someone to stop at the rest stop. We were discussing how if I have not turned the car around we would have been face to face with him. My girlfriend made a very good point and said "what if he wanted us to see him? What if he knows you would have left if you saw him? What if the whole point of him running towards the car was so you can see him, leave, then he has someone else hiding behind the rest stop." I never thought of that. So now we are paranoid thinking there was someone else behind the rest stop, which makes a whole lot of sense. That rest stop is in the middle of no where, you can't call the cops because you have no service. It was perfect place to hide.<br><br>So guy running towards my car at the rest stop, let's not meet again.
