The world is not a safe place, but with proper research, travel anywhere you want.

I saw a post last night asking if anyone would travel to Egypt, and I read a lot of the comments. I want to share a little bit about myself. I am a single woman in my 30s from the States. I am not an experienced traveler. I have never traveled outside of the States until a few years ago. I, too, have anxiety over traveling. But I realized, if I don’t face my fear, the fear will never go away. One of my best friends invited me to travel to Italy with her and her husband, and I went. I did not like it at first, because I am not used to traveling and there were many barriers. But the more I traveled, the more comfortable I became.

The thing is, the world is not a safe place, and that is the first thing we should be aware of, wherever we go. I once had my handbag stolen in Italy, and I was physically attacked in Japan. But I am not going to let those things stop me from traveling. I will always be on my guard, no matter whether I am in the States or abroad.

I recently went to Turkey, and my first impression is very different from that of Italy. People here are more genuine and their hospitality is very different. The world is a big place, and every country is different. If you don’t like traveling to certain places, that is fine. But if you don’t like traveling, don’t let fear dictate your decision. The world is not a safe place, but with proper research, travel anywhere you want.
