AITA for not getting my friend a gift?

I was over my parents' house for lunch. We were talking about my friends birthday (30s) and people giving him gifts. I do not like the person and I'd like to avoid him. I also don't give gifts to people if I can help it.<br><br>My parents asked if I got him a gift. I said no, because I do not like him. They said I am rude for not getting a gift. I said I don't have to. We are friends, I see him at group gatherings, that's enough. I don't have to be friends with him, or get him gifts, or do anything else for him. I can just not exist in his presence.<br><br>My parents were annoyed with me.
