Does self-reflection lead to self-awareness or self-alienation?

In the past few days, I have also entertained the idea that philosophy is primarily for those who are unhappy with themselves and the world around them. Philosophizing here will be seen as an act of self-alienation, as it alienates from established norms and routines that make people content with their mundane repetitive lives. Through self-reflection, one focuses more on the internal self rather than being content with one’s external experiences. It becomes an act of self-alienation where one is no longer content with the world.
