Did women ever sincerely believe we were equal?

Pretty much what the title said. It seems like the last few years have seen women totally shed any attempt to pretend men and women are equal. Aggressive females haven’t changed very much over the past few years, it’s just now they don’t pretend to be the victim as much. Do you think women ever genuinely felt like we were equal, or were they just playing along until the circumstances changed?
