# A new study finds a high response rate to an immunotherapy treatment for metastatic melanoma developed by Israeli firm Enlivex<br><br>A new treatment for metastatic melanoma developed by Israeli firm Enlivex Therapeutics has shown a high response rate in patients, a new study finds.<br><br>Enlivex Therapeutics is an immunotherapy company, based in Ness Ziona in central Israel, that develops therapies for oncology and autoimmune diseases, including melanoma, lung cancer, sepsis, COVID-19 and graft-versus-host disease.<br><br>Its drug Allocetra is a cellular immunotherapy that targets immune-suppressed solid tumors and is intended to rebalance the body’s immune system.<br><br>Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that is responsible for a large percentage of deaths caused by skin diseases. When melanoma metastasizes, the prognosis for the patient is significantly impaired.<br><br>A study conducted at the Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva, together with several hospitals in the US, found that Allocetra is effective in treating immune-suppressed metastatic melanoma patients, who did not respond to any other treatment.<br><br>The trial demonstrated a significant and encouraging overall response rate (ORR) of 44%, including five complete responses or partial responses in the first patient group. Furthermore, the disease control rate (DCR), representing the sum of partial responses, complete responses and stable disease, was 67%.<br><br>"These positive clinical data demonstrate that Allocetra has the potential to significantly improve treatment outcomes for oncology patients suffering from solid tumors, including those with metastatic melanoma," said Professor Dror Mevorach, chief medical officer of Enlivex. #Israel #melanoma #cancer
