I think I might be in the wrong profession.

So I've had my primary class for a few months now (6 months if im being specific). This is my second year as a qualified teacher and I have to say I'm really not enjoying it. I'm probably being dramatic as I think it's just the time of year.

We have a behaviour system at school where the kids that behave will receive a raffle ticket, this is then drawn out at the end of the day and the child will receive a privilege.

For the past few weeks I've been having a really hard time with one child in my class (im going to call her Sarah for the sake of this post). She's extremely bright and a lovely kid, she just has major anger issues and is a bit of a bully. So much so that the other kids in the class don't want her around due to her outbursts.

Anyway, today im getting the class ready for assembly, all of them are lined up and looking perfect. Sarah decides to hit one of her peers and she fell over, she then started kicking her and shouting in her face.

I do my best to calm her down (she was having a full on melt down), she comes to class afterwards and apologises (her standard behaviour after an incident). At the end of the day its time for the raffle tickets, we pick one and it was Sarah. She was so excited, meanwhile the rest of the class who have behaved all day are sitting there thinking "this is so unfair, she was so horrible".

It just made me really reflect on my career choice, I feel like the naughty kids have way too much attention and the ones who behave get nothing in return.

Does this happen to anyone else?
