President Donald Trump’s businesses have lost so much money over three years that he would have been better off if he had done nothing at all.

That is the conclusion of an analysis of Trump’s finances by Eric Lipton, a reporter for the New York Times, and two tax experts with the line item breakdowns that the president refuses to provide himself. The Times report draws on more than 20 years of income tax returns for Trump and his companies that were obtained by the paper.

Trump’s core businesses loses totaled $1.17 billion from 2015 to 2017, with the biggest losses at his golf courses, the Times reports. “He is, in essence, a failed businessman on a very, very large scale,” one of the tax experts consulted by the newspaper said.

The records also show that Trump has received large sums of cash from foreign sources, despite his claims that he doesn’t do business there. They also show that he has used the presidency to enrich himself, promoting his businesses and even using government funds to do so.

***Submissions that may interest you***

*Submissions that may interest you*
SUBREDDIT
POST
DOMAIN
SUBSCRIBERS
COMMENTS
POSTED
r/TrueOffMyChest
Trump is not my president, and has never been my president.
