Does having sex with a sex doll while single and having no partners count as losing virginity?

I heard a story from a relative about how they got arrested for rape because he raped a sex doll while out drunk and in public. He went to jail for 7 months for this. Then I heard another story about a man who raped a sex doll at a party and he got in trouble with the law as well. So I'm just wondering if this would count as losing your virginity?
