If a police chief says “I don’t condone this behavior, we will investigate it to the fullest extent”, then they just condone it

Whenever there is a police incident that the media gets a hold of, police chiefs and mayors just say “We don’t condone this, we will investigate it to the fullest extent!” Whenever they say that, they just condone it and the officer will go back to work the following week without even discipline.

In order to back up their words, they need to place the police officer in question in suspension without pay (or paid administrative leave at the very least even though that is still a joke), and an investigation needs to take place that is visible to the public in some capacity. We need to see the investigation.

This are just words and they have turned into empty promises that our police system need to stop saying if they don’t mean them. Even when the police officers are held under investigation, they usually just get their job back.

Edit: thanks for the silver, kind redditor.

Commenters are right though, money is the best solution.
