There is a teacher shortage. Many of us carry heavy work loads and are overwhelmed. Many of us are overworked and underappreciated. Many of us are struggling with health issues. Many of us are struggling with mental health issues.<br><br>Many of you know that we struggle in these areas, and will do anything to stop us from taking care of ourselves.<br><br>You watch us every second, waiting for us to do something that you can use against us. You know that we know you are watching us. Therefore you know we feel as though we cannot trust you.<br><br>You know that we have very little job security. You know that we cannot afford to take a day off unless we absolutely must. You know that we get paid very little. You know that we cannot strike.<br><br>Therefore you know that we can do little to stand up for ourselves.<br><br>You know that we have an average of 150-200 students we are responsible for every day. We cannot do everything you ask us to do, because we are not superhuman. We must use our own money to do our job. We must use our own time to do our job. We must find a way to get our children to school on time, before the school doors open. You know that you cannot expect us to arrive to school early (let alone before the school doors open) because we have children to take care of as well.<br><br>You know that we must balance our work and family life. You know that we cannot do everything that you want us to do.<br><br>Therefore, you know that we must come to work tired. Many of you know that we can't afford a car. Many of you know that we can't afford health insurance. Many of you know that we are skipping breakfast because we can't afford the time to eat. Many of you know that we are skipping meals because we can't afford the food.<br><br>Many of you know we are struggling to maintain a clean work environment. Many of you know that we are struggling to stay clean. Many of you know that we are struggling to stay healthy.<br><br>You know that we are struggling with budgets. Many of you know that we can't afford to keep our cars running. Many of you know that we must choose between paying rent and paying for groceries.<br><br>You know that we are struggling to make ends meet. Many of you know that we can't afford to pay for medical treatment. Many of you know that we can't afford to pay for healthy food.<br><br>You know that we are struggling to get enough rest. Many of you know that we can't afford to take a day off. Many of you know that we can't afford to miss work.<br><br>You know that we can't afford to stop work. You know that we can't afford to slow work. You know that we can't afford to stop. You know that we can't afford to slow.<br><br>You know that we are struggling to make ends meet. You know that we are struggling to stay healthy. You know that we are struggling to stay sane.<br><br>You know that we are struggling to cope.<br><br>Therefore, you know that we cannot stop.
