How do I win this game? Or can I not?

So I was off work today and decided to go on a walk. I walked by this park and saw some mom and her kid throwing a ball around. The kid started to lose interest so the mom yelled to me and said "you wanna play a game of catch with my son?". I said sure, I haven't played catch with a kid in ages. But since I had nothing to do so I decided to play along.<br><br>Anyway, she tosses me the ball and I throw it to her kid, he tosses me the ball back and I threw it back to him. And I thought to myself "wow, this kid can't throw". After about 30 seconds of this game we started to move away from each other more and more and the expansion happened so fast it was like the big bang happening all over again.<br><br>It was getting to the point where the ball was a tiny dot in the horizon and somehow it got lost in thin air. So I said to the kid "well, that's a long one". And then he just ran off the field back to his family and I got a dirty look from the mom.<br><br>So what did I do wrong?
