Don’t say “I could never” in response to a post.

For instance, if someone posts about the fact that their boyfriend/gf/child/parent always does this or that, don’t say “I could never” and end your comment with “well, everyone is different”.

Say “I’ve never experienced this, I don’t understand” or something along those lines.

1. The person who made the post does not want to hear “I could never” and be validated. They want to vent. They want to get something off their chest. They don’t want to see a list of reasons as to why someone else in a different situation would be ok with whatever is happening.

2. Everyone *is* the same. Yes, you’ve had different experiences in your life. You’ve been raised, trained, and taught different things, and you may have different standards.

3. When you say “I could never” and “everyone is different” in every comment, you’re teaching others that they should be ok with everything and that they should never judge anything as wrong.

4. It makes you seem unempathetic and selfish, as if you take no responsibility for anyone else. It comes off as if you don’t want to help someone work through a problem, you just want to point out that everything is relative.
