My great-grandfather was a hero in the British army, and was going to be sent to fight in the Arab-Israeli war as a high-ranking officer for the British army, but he had a stroke, and never fully recovered, but thankfully lived for another 20 years, my family knows very little about him, but have recently learned he was going to fight in Israel, and I have always had a deep love for Israel and have just learned this, it gives me chills thinking about it.
