Any other siblings here fuming anytime a man is seen as another parent to their younger sibling?

I’ve got a 14 year old sister who I adore and she looks up to me. I’ve been there for her since day 1 and have been the one to move out and work my ass off to help provide for her and our lives. I was raised in a nightmare of a situation and ended up raising myself and her. My siblings and I are closer than the rest of our family because we’ve had to rely on each other. When my sister was 10 she was diagnosed with a disability and I’ve been there since day 1 to support her and help her cope with it.

Yet the one time I brought a guy over to my apartment who’s been dating me for a few months and has gotten to know her, another guy from work had a meltdown when he found out. He went on to say this guy isn’t to be another father to my sister and how he’s “overstepping his boundaries as a boyfriend” by being in my apartment and my sister there too. I was beyond pissed off but this isn’t the first time I’ve been berated for being a good big sister and for bringing guys over who don’t talk down to me or my sister and actually care about us both. I’ve met plenty of guys who talk down to me or met my sister and say that since she’s not my kid they don’t have to like her.

I’d rather jump off a building than let a man disrespect me or my sister. Am I the only one who is angry that a guy I’m dating can’t be a father figure to their sibling??
